Tyrannosaurus is a genus of carnivorous theropod dinosaurs that lived in the late Cretaceous Period (68-66 million years ago). Most tyrannosaurs were giant carnivorous theropod dinosaurs with skulls over 1 meter long.

Tyrannosaurus, walking on powerful hind legs; in the light of recent studies, standing in a bent body position and balancing with its tail; exceeding 12 meters in length and 4 meters in height when standing upright; It was a large creature, the adults of which weighed 4-6 tons. Members of this genus lived in North America and Asia.

The word Tyrannosaurus, derived from the combination of the Ancient Greek phrase tyrant (tyrant) and sauros (lizard), was given to the bipedal, carnivorous Theropod dinosaur genus by Henry Fairfield Osborn in 1905. Tyrannosaurus is one of the enormous carnivorous dinosaurs that ever lived on earth.

Other essential features of the genus Tyrannosaurus are its muscular thighs and strong long tail. According to the studies of scientists, Tyrannosaurus dinosaurs could eat more than 230 kg of meat in a single bite, thanks to their strong jaws.

As a result of the loss of the third finger of the genus Tyrannosaurus, each finger can be exposed to 50 percent more pressure, allowing the claws to make more powerful strikes.

Besides all these views, Tyrannosaurus expert Thomas Holtz of the University of Maryland in College Park claims that these relatively small arms were used for more secondary activities and less effective organs for adult Tyrannosaurus.

The evolutionary line of the genus Tyrannosaurus is an issue that the scientific world cares about and works on.

Detailed studies argue that the late Cretaceous Tyrannosaurids, including the genus Tyrannosaurus, owed their evolutionary success to the top predator position in the ecosystem to the well-developed cerebral functions (relatively large brain and sensory systems) of their relatively early ancestors.
